10/14/06 Well, the Nob and family are adjusting to remaining in Santa Fe for a bit longer.
My wife, Kathy, is recovering from her surgery, doing well, but still taking it slow. It will be several more weeks until she's back to normal. Vandy beats Georgia. The UT loss must have
demoralized them. Had to for Vandy to win on Georgia turf. I'm flashing back and thinking about Dewey Warren and Walter Chadwick. Dewey, slow, dumb but a rifle for an arm. That boy could pass. Walter, best white boy leaper on the planet. Give him the ball on the 3 and he was in for a score, airborne all the way. Drinking a little G&T as I write, Florida-Auburn getting underway. Of course I'm for Auburn. Cannot be a UT fan and not hate the Gators.
10/16 Now this is some TV I can get excited about, pervert John Mark Karr on Larry King
tonight. This ought to be good, real good.
10/17 What a dud that was. Hoping for some fireworks but should have known better. The pervert would not talk about the Ramsey case. Let's get to know John Mark Karr, the human being. Fuck you Karr. Surprised to learn the Bears beat the Cardinals. They looked like crap when I turned it off.
10/21 Close call. Vols pull it out. I thought they would but you never know with the Big Orange.
South Carolina, LSU and Arkansas in a row. Not sure if they can get thru that without a stumble. Some good movies out so I need to get with it. "The Departed" tomorrow . "Marie Antoinette" later next week, then "Flags of our Fathers" after that. Got to mix up my next drink,
a pink G&T, a touch of cranberry juice to the mix. Have a nice week-end.
11/9 Sorry for the absence but Noble180 energy a bit low lately. House back on the market.
Got to get out in the garage today and do some major weeding out. Rented a truck from Penske and will make a run to Goodwill and then to the local dump. My son Will's in town this week. Okay let's comment on the big election:
Thought I would never be for the Dems control of Congress, but must say the change will be good. I've become pissed at big business's influence over the path of this country, especially to the greed, and unfairness of top executives and their legal and illegal use of stock options to become stinking rich. It's like the club who makes their own rules to make sure they are set for life. Last week I read of a CEO who was canned and receives a golden parachute of 70 mil.
Canning never felt so good. I try to dig out a few scheckles daily in the market and these guys have fortunes to pass around. Let's face it, it's not about us shareholders. I'm for doing away with options. Let' em make a good salary but this bullshit about options needed to keep and attract the good talent is crap sold to the shareholders. Reagen's trickle down went up, not down, and ever since the rich have gotten richer with the wealth in fewer hands. I'm for raising the tax rate on the rich bigtime.
Bush will be a better president now that he will have to compromise. I know there's a lot not to like there but he'll be around for a few more years and there's nothing that will change that. Rummy being out is good. Definitely need to get realistic on Iraq. Healthcare will take years to straighten out, if ever. Too much corporate influence and money to be made standing in the way.
Still can not vote for Hillary. Hope somebody else will rise up.
12/04 As much as I dislike the Gators glad they got picked to play OS. Michigan already had their shot. Check out Noble's new ride(new to me). Will pick up in Orlando later this month. Looks like the beginning of the Noble180 2007 Going Back Tour.
12/11 Just finished up lunch, a bowl of chili and some "potted meat" spread on a few crackers.
What a throw back, potted meats. As I was roaming the grocery aisle last week my eye caught the section where various potted meats were displayed. After a few seconds I said "yeah" and grabbed a can of vienna sausage and a can of deviled ham. Has to be 30 plus years since a vienna sausage was consumed and probably 20 for the ham. I gotta tell you, it will not be that long again. Damn good, brought back memories. The only downside is the fat content. You have to spread out the consumption over several days. I'll be hitting that grocery aisle again soon.
12/12 Yes folks it's the Noble's 25th wedding
anniversary today. No potted meat tonight.
Will be taking Kathy out to a little French
restaurant and some beverage service. Who
would have thunk it, 25 years with the Nob.
The woman sure has stamina and I thank her
for hanging in there. There were some rough
periods but I suppose that's life. I love you girl.
12/13 Damn good meal, duck for me and
mahi-mahi for the misses. Tasted some terrific
French wines, had some sherry that was the best
I've tasted. Restaurant 315, Santa Fe.
12/21 It might be!. It could be! Yes it will possibly be a white Christmas in Santa Fe. Stockpiling
the firewood, laying in the laidder. Looks like primerib for Christmas din-din. Will just arrived, although he had to stay in El Paso one night due to the Albuquerque airport being shutdown. Merry Christmas,
Happy Holidays to all.
12/24 It's still a bit white here, especially up in the mountains. Looks like surf and turf for the Christmas eve dinner, lobster tails and some New York strips. Got some nice vino from my daughter and son-in-law, Oregon Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Bought a bottle of cream sherry that I sampled on my anniversary at Restaurant 315. Damn yummy, especially with some pear and stilton. Rented a few movies and a couple will be on tap tonight. Merry Christmas to all.
12/25 One of Noble's Christmas gifts, Calming Mandarin Body Butter. Oh yeah baby. Thanks for the email Jackie. James Brown dead. End of an era. Saw him live in 1963. Later during his performance I got my UT ID pulled for having liquor in my possession. Social probation began. Picture of yours truly
after the Christmas dinner.
12/30 To say we have more snow is a major understatement, maybe 20" plus. Heading out to
Orlando on Monday, hopefully. Back on the 10th. Happy New Year to all.
1/12 Back from the road, some pics are up under the RV/Road Pics link. Snow still on the ground.
1/19 Will the house ever sell? Who knows but the Noble needs more income, tired of hitting that ETrade account on a regular basis for money, gone on too long. Looks like I'll be hanging out at Don Mackey Nissan of Santa Fe starting next week. Anybody want to buy a car?
1/25 Noble here, my dogs are hurting, 3rd day at the dealership, learning the car salesman ropes.
I need the gig but not sure of how the fit will be. Mixed emotions. I like it, I hate it. A lot of standing around. Joseph, who I have befriended, and an excellent salesman and sales trainer for many years in the car biz has been very helpful and I appreciate that. According to Joseph, if you want to screw your brains out go to Kiev, Russia. Five eleven, gorgeous and all over the place, no age discrimination as here in the good old USA. I like it Mikey, I like it. "Kathy, the dealership has called a meeting in Kiev, all expenses paid, okay?"
2/6 The new cap purchased yesterday after the big game. Lasted 2 weeks down at the Nissan dealership. Sold a few cars but the gig ain't for me, hated it. Not that I'm above it but a little low level
for the Noble, not real fond of the process and standing around jockeying for position with the other sales guys. Liked the guys though, very helpful. Back to the drawing board. A freeman again for the moment.
3/4 Boy I've been absent from blogging, working on the t-shirt gig, almost got the web site
finished, ideas solidified, money not spent yet, gun shy?, deer in the head lights? possibly.
I always work these things in to the ground then wonder if it's a worthy idea. No guts, no glory,
no money or money wasted. I'll probably go for it, as the gut leans that way. Stay tuned my little droogies.
3/15 I'm sure you got my email about ex-ambassador Joseph Wilson and his younger, ex-CIA operative wife Valerie Plame moving into the Fe. Typical, I could of guessed it. Enough said.
Right now your humble narrator is listened to The Killers "Sams Town", modern punk/alternative at it's best. Get ready to crank. Las Vegas boys. It's really good. Not my typical choice of music
but good is good. Variety is the spice of life. About a year ago I went for the Billy Idol look,
real blonde, what was I thinking, actually I looked pretty fucking good.
3/16 Looks like the Vols did not choke in the first round. Next Virginia. Kick some ass, please.
Happy St. Patricks Day to all. Chicago will be jumping, Santa Fe, not!
3/17 The Vols came through, now Ohio State. Kick some buck-eye ass.
4/16 Back from the Arizona trip, pics are up on the RV page. Terrible about that nut job at Virginia Tech. What the hell is going on? Too many violent video games? American dream a bust? Culture in a major funk? Parents missing in action? Got me.
5/17 I've been absent here. House is under contract and if things go according to plan we will move in on July 10th, somewhere near downtown Chicago. Will be looking for digs soon. Probably be a condo so majoring reduction in personal items needed.
5/25 So far so good on the house sale. Move day will be July 6 and move in on July 10, somewhere in Chicago. Kathy going up next week to secure digs. My son will, who DJ's under the name Shwilla, will be performing on July 14 at the Sugar Shack in Lubbock, Tex. Link
6/15 Unless things go screwy again looks like the Nob, wife and doggies will be residing at
431 W. Oakdale, #7D Chicago 60657. It's a vintage condo that we will be buying about a block from Lakeshore Drive and about 2900 north from downtown. Keeping the fingers crossed that all goes through. Closing on the Santa Fe property on July 6 and on the Chicago property on July 10.
